This Week's New Movies

be sure to update your profile if you want to see any of these!

Hancock Hancock
"Hancock" centers on a tortured superhero (Will Smith) who crash-lands in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and tries to transform himself by romancing an alluring housewife, causing chaos in the city. Rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and language. Starring Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman.

Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
Always willing to hurl himself right in the middle of the action, journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson was fearless as well as reckless. This documentary looks beyond his wild antics to focus on the courage and principles that made him a success. Rare home movies, audiotapes and unpublished materials offer added insight into this complex man, who was well-known for his fondness for sex, drugs and alcohol.

The Wackness The Wackness
It's the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip-hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana--but change is in the air. The newly- inaugurated mayor, Rudy Giuliani, is beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against "crimes" like noisy portable radios, graffiti and public drunkenness. Set against this backdrop, Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) spends his last summer before college selling dope throughout New York City, trading it with his shrink (Ben Kingsley) for therapy, while crushing on his step-daughter (Olivia Thirlby). Famke Janssen, Mary Kate Olsen, and Method Man round out the cast in this edgy, bittersweet, and funny coming of age story.
