This Week's New Movies

be sure to update your profile if you want to see any of these!

21 21
"21," based on Ben Mezrich's best-selling nonfiction book "Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions," revolves around a group of young men who become experts in the art of card counting. Huge cast which features Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne and Kate Bosworth. Rated PG-13 for some violence, and sexual content including partial nudity.

Run, Fat Boy, Run
I know a good many MatchFlicker's are anxious to get a peek at this film. "Run, Fatboy, Run" centers on a charming but oblivious overweight guy who leaves his fiancee on their wedding day only to discover years later that he really loves her. To win her back, he must finish a marathon while making her realize that her handsome, wealthy fiance is the wrong guy for her.

Superhero Movie! Superhero Movie!
Even after Star Wars fans tried prostesting the release of this film....it is here. The team that lampooned horror movies with the Scary Movie series takes on the superhero genre with this send-up penned by Craig Mazin. When the mayor of Fabtopolis (the sublimely silly Leslie Nielsen) is kidnapped by magician The Great Jim, a quartet of superheroes is called upon to save him: Beakman (the leader), Squak (the wannabe), Cleara (the see-through heroine) and The Stoner (a loser who becomes a large stone monster when high).

Stop Loss
Decorated Iraq war hero Sgt. Brandon King makes a celebrated return to his small Texas hometown following his tour of duty. Brandon tries to resume the life he left behind with the help and support of his family and his best friend, Steve Shriver, who served with him in Iraq. Alongside their war-time buddies, Brandon and Steve try to make peace with civilian life. Then, against Brandon's will, the Army orders him back to duty in Iraq. This upends Brandon's entire world. The conflict into which he is thrown tests everything he believes in: the bond of family, the loyalty of friendship, the limits of love, and the value of honor.
