Charlie Wilson's War Charlie Wilson's War
Do you remember several months ago when Adam Meir gave MatchFlick an interview? Well he had a small part in this film and you can read what he had to say about being in the film at this link: Adam Meir Interview (click). Starring an ALL STAR cast of Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Phillip Seymour Hoffman this Biography / Drama looks to be a winner for the end of 2007. Based on George Crile's book about the CIA's largest and most successful covert CIA operation, the arming of the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan. The covert ops were engineered by Charlie Wilson (Hanks), a charismatic, wheeler-dealer, liberal Texas congressman who teamed with a rogue CIA operative (Hoffman). The two manipulated Congress, the CIA and a host of foreign governments in order to assist the Afghan rebels in their fight against the Soviets in the 1980s. Many of the men armed by the CIA went on to become the Taliban's enforcers and Osama bin Laden's protectors.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets
Benjamin Franklin Gates (Cage) is back for a sequel, this time focusing on solving the mystery of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Gates will team up with his girlfriend from the previous film played by Diane Kruger and also back again is his father played by Jon Voight. They will be trying to 18 missing pages from John Wilkes Booth's diary. The cast also includes veteran actors Ed Harris and Harvey Keitel.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Sweeney Todd is based on a Broadway musical in which Benjamin Barker opens a barbershop and tries to get rid of anyone who has ever done him wrong, mainly a judge that wrongly imprisoned him. Again the dynamic pair of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton team up to make this musical screen worthy material. Also in the cast is Helena Bonham Carter most famous for her work in Fight Club as well as Alan Rickman which you probably know as Hans Gruber from the original Die Hard film. Rated R for graphic bloody violence. This film has already been nominated for four Golden Globe awards.

P.S. I Love You
I actually got free tickets for this and turned them down. It just does not look interesting to me and I am not a Meg Ryan fan at all. However it will be a complete 180 degree turn to see Gerald Butler in a Comedy / Romance after his outstanding performance in 2007's 300. An adaptation of the best-selling Cecelia Ahern novel about a grieving young widow who discovers her late husband has left her a list of tasks revealed in 10 monthly messages that are intended to ease her out of grief and transition her to a new life.

In Short:

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Co-written by Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin) and starring one of my favorites John C. Reilly, this is the story of Dewey Cox. On his rock 'n roll spiral, Cox sleeps with 411 women, marries three times, has 22 kids and 14 stepkids, stars in his own 70s TV show, collects friends ranging from Elvis to the Beatles to a chimp, and gets addicted to – and then kicks – every drug known to man... but despite it all, Cox grows into a national icon and eventually earns the love of a good woman – longtime backup singer Darlene (Jenna Fischer).
