MatchFlick today announced the launch of its number 34 U.S. Drift Car.
Now Racing Fans and Movie Fans Can Unite
CHARLOTTE-- October 1st, 2008-- MatchFlick today announced the sponsorship of Rob Fallowes number 34 drift racecar. Drift Racing has quickly
grown as one of the most popular forms of new age racing. It is dangerous, exciting and unpredictable and MatchFlick feels that drifting brings
along a very hip audience which would be perfect for the fast pace and expressive atmosphere of the film community.
Here is what drifter Rob Fallowes said when questioned about his involvement.
"Drifting is a judged freestyle motorsport, you have a panel of judges
that judge you on 3 to 4 different things. First is your speed, they will sometimes have a radar gun and check your speed when you first start
drifting. Next is your angle, when your drifting your car it is sideways and the more sideways you are the better. Then you have your smoke, when
your
drifting and your at full throttle your tires will be smoking a lot and if your not giving it a lot of gas there will not be as much smoke, so they
will be able to tell if your giving it all you got or just messing around. Last sometimes they will judge on show, basically how much your showing
off. Thats drifting in a nut shell.
As for me I have been drifting for 4 years and participated in about 5 competitions. In those competitions I have placed 7th, 5th, 4th, and 3rd
place twice. In this next competition, it will be the Pro\AM nationals in conjunction with the GT Live Tour. You can find info about GT Live at
gtlivetour.com and you can find out info at proamdrift.com if you would like to see videos of these events last year just type
the event names on you tube.
During the national I did great during practice. I hit every clipping point and had a lot of compliments. When it came down to the
qualifying... I choked. The first run I went off track and on the second I spun out at the last turn. You only get two qualifying
runs, so I got a score of zero but I learned tons about pressure and commitment and that was worth the weekend. If you would like to see more of GT
live and the nationals you can look in a magazine called Modified Mag, low and behold you see a pic of my car on page 92.
Thanks again Matchflick and too all of my other sponsors for everything."
