Lesbians we love
It should not be a surprise that the readers of Lesbian Nation named Angelina Jolie's performance in Gia as their favorite film lesbian, even though it was not technically a big screen film. Jolie won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her performance. Runners-up included Piper Perabo in Imagine Me & You, Gina Gershon in Bound, Laurel Holloman in The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love, and Erin Kelly in Loving Annabelle.

Gillian Anderson Talks On Upcoming X-Files Sequel!
From Tim: Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are back for a sequel to 1998's The X-Files film. After almost 6 years as passed as Anderson played the role of Dana Scully she admits that it was not as easy as she thought to get back in character. She says, "I expected to get back into Scully like flipping on a light switch but it's taken a lot more effort."
The X-Files is due out for a summer release on July 25th, 2008 and co-stars Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly and Xzibit. Hopefully they do better with this film as I was dissapointed with the first.

Polley wins big at Genie Awards
I watched the Oscars on Sunday and I hardly remember a mention of Away From Her, the Canadian film by Sarah Polley. It took all the big awards at at Canada's 2008 Genie Awards. It's seven Genies was matched by Eastern Promises, which also won seven, dominating the lower-profile categories. So, No Country for Old Men may not be the best film of last year after all.

DANGEROUS CELLO PLAYING
I haven't seen it yet, but I will. The Bank Job opened last week and Saffron Burrows co-stars with Jason Statham. I can't think of a better reason to see a flick. But, where is Dangerous Parking, directed by Peter Howitt (Sliding Doors)? It was supposed to open last year. Based on the novel of the same name, the movie follows a drug and alcohol–addicted indie film director's attempt to turn his life around. According to the movie's official website, "When fate sends him a guardian angel in the shape of cellist Clare Mattheson, he tries even harder to shift his focus from self abuse to self preservation — and on the road to selflessness ... and that is when Mother Nature deals him the cruelest blow of all." Can't wait!
