The Devil is an Oscar-Winner
Meryl Streep will star as the boss from hell in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, the film adaptation of the 2003 best-seller about the long-suffering assistant of a fashion magazine editor. Streep's character, Miranda Priestly, is said to be based on Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Sith Happens
George Lucas must really love "The O.C." (remember that trailer premiere). Or maybe it's a coincidence that "The O.C." is on Fox and Fox will distribute STAR WARS EPISODE THREE: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Hmmm...? Anyway, this week's episode of "The O.C." features a cameo from Mr. Lucas, as himself, and he's interested in Seth's graphic novel. Richard Pryor Isn't Dead
According to E! Online, Mike Epps has signed to play Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic directed by Walter Hill, who also directed Pryor himself in BREWSTER'S MILLIONS. You can also see Epps this summer as Ed Norton in THE HONEYMOONERS with Cedric the Entertainer.

The Year Of Almodovar
Pedro Almodovar fans, 2006 will be your year. Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the rights for his next picture, VOLVER, set to start filming in Madrid this July. A comedy, VOLVER will star Penelope Cruz and Carmen Maura, and tells the story of three generations of women living in Madrid's stimulating working-class neighborhood. In honor of the acquisition and Almodovar's 20th anniversary of being introduced to American audiences, SPC has declared 2006 the official Year of Almodovar, and plans to launch a major retrospective on his career. Eight of his films will be re-released here: LAW OF DESIRE, MATADOR, WOMEN ON THE VERGE, FLOWER OF MY SECRET, LIVE FLESH, ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER, TALK TO HER, and BAD EDUCATION.

Written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, BROKEN FLOWERS stars Bill Murray as Don Johnston, an avowed bachelor. After breaking up with his latest girlfriend (Julie Delpy), Don receives an anonymous letter with the news that he has a son who may want to meet him. After BROKEN FLOWERS premiered at the Cannes Film Festival May 17, Murray announced that his recent string of back-to-back movies had left him exhausted, and he plans to take a break for a while. But sit tight, Murray fans, you have a fix coming to tide you over: BROKEN FLOWERS will be released by Focus Features on August 5, 2005, in select cities.

Topher Grace Is Still Working
If you were wondering what would happen to Topher Grace after he left "That '70s Show," here's the first thing on his list: playing one of the villains in SPIDER-MAN 3. You may remember reading here that Thomas Haden Church had signed to play another bad guy. According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios hasn't said which of the comic's villains Grace will be bringing to life.

People, I swear I'm not making this up. According to Variety, Sylvester Stallone, fresh from "The Contender" on NBC, is moving on to a more literary project. He's written a film about Edgar Allan Poe (well-known author of "The Raven" and other macabre poems and stories). Stallone's first choice for the lead role is Robert Downey Jr.

Casting on LITTLE CHILDREN
Currently slated for a 2006 release, LITTLE CHILDREN has officially signed Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connelly to star. Todd Field (IN THE BEDROOM) is directing this adaptation of the identically-titled Tom Perrotta novel about a group of married couples who realize the happy relationships around them are not what they appear to be.
