Imaginarium All the People
Amongst the fallout of Heath Ledger's death was his incompleted role in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Gilliam, one of film's more unlucky large budget directors (see Lost in La Mancha), replaced Ledger with Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Colin Farrell. Also, Ledger's will had not yet been updated to include his two-year-old daughter Matilda. Upon hearing of this, Law, Depp, and Farrell gave their paychecks from the film to Matilda. Tropic Thunder Blasted for Insensitivity
"Tropic Thunder" is pushing the envelope too far for groups representing the mentally disabled. Dozens of people from organizations such as the Special Olympics and the American Association of People with Disabilities protested the movie-industry spoof across the street from the film's Los Angeles premiere at Mann's Bruin Theatre on Monday. The protesters held up signs with slogans such as "Call me by my name, not by my label" and chanted phrases like "Ban the movie, ban the word." The groups are outraged over scenes featuring the liberal usage of a disparaging term used to describe the mentally disabled. "If you want to pick on people, as the old playground saying goes, pick on people your own size," said Timothy Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics, who is calling for a boycott of "Tropic Thunder" along with the other groups.

The Informant, directed by Steven Soderbergh, is a Participant film based on Kurt Eichenwald's 2000 book, the true story of Mark Whitacre (played by Matt Damon), who became the highest ranked executive ever to turn whistleblower in U.S. history when he exposed price fixing at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in the early 1990s. Ledger's Shot At Oscar Nod No Joke
As Dark Knight nears its July 18 release date and the buzz and anticipation reaches its event horizon with word starting to trickle out from advanced press screenings, rumor is Ledger's portrayal of the sick and twisted Joker is a legitimate contender for Oscar consideration. Should Ledger be nominated it would be the first time an actor would be honored after his death since 1995; only one actor has ever won an Academy Award postumously, Peter Finch for his role in 1976's Network. Bond Curse Lives On!
The Bond Curse has claimed yet another victim. Quantum of Solace star Daniel Craig sliced off the top of his finger during an action sequence. This accident comes just one week after Craig's face was sliced open while filming another scene – requiring eight stitches. So far, the film's production has been marred by accidents. A crash left one crewmember critically injured. At one point, production was halted when a stunt driver suffered serious head injuries after crashing a vehicle into a wall in northern Italy. And before that, an Aston Martin had to be fished out of a lake after skidding off a narrow road in the rain.
You know what Mr. Craig? That's what you get for that damn blue Speedo. contributed by Rob Schillinger
