Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie
March 25th, 2007

Tough Ladies

One of the better chick flicks is this story of a bunch of Southern women whose lives centre around a hair salon.

I saw this on stage a few years ago and it just doesn't have the same resonance without Dolly Parton, Shirley Maclaine and the classic Sally Field breakdown scene.

Julia Roberts plays Field's diabetic daughter who wants to have a child against the doctor's orders. It is one of the better characters Roberts has played, she actually seems human.

The film carries over many years and we see these ladies through good times and bad, oh especially bad.

One of the best sad endings in movie history.

If you don't cry, you might want to consider the fact you are likely a robot.
