Movie Review by Zara
March 14th, 2007

The Indians win it! The Indians win it! OMG...

I can't help it. This is by far my favorite sports movie of all time. I saw it in the theater with my mom who was a big fan of Berenger. She took me so that she could drool over him and I could drool over Charlie Sheen (The man has NEVER looked as good in his life as he did in this movie.)

However, there's more to the movie than just the old and young heartthrobs. Sure it's a comedy. And sure, the underdog is going to win. But the best part is that this was a raunchy comedy that won over audiences during a time when that was being looked down upon. Forgetting family values and just getting at what they wanted to (which was to not water down the foul mouths of the players as they would be in reality) the movie is great because it doesn't compromise.

It also has some great performances by people that we weren't all that familiar with yet. Long before he became some pompous action star who thought higher of himself than the world around him, Wesley Snipes actually excelled at comedy. Willie Mayes Hayes is one of the greatest sports characters ever.

Also on the roster are the great Dennis Haysbert, before he finally turned TV audiences into fan on 24. As the voodoo practicing Serrano, he's a sharp and vital part of the movie. Add in a vicious Margaret Whitton, a very sexy looking librarian Rene Russo and the kickass Bob Uecker as the announcer and you have one unforgettable film that's worth watching over and over again.
