It's John Kinney, It's John Kinney, It's John Kinn
Ah man just thinking of this movie makes me want to go watch it. Young Guns is one of the most perfect films of the 1980's. I mean there is some great 80's films but how often do you get a script that is entirely made up of one liners?
Billy the Kid could not have been cast better, Emilio Estevez looks nothing like the real Billy The Kid but he looks like what all of us as children imagined him looking like. Casey Siemaszko and Dermot Mulroney were virtually unknown at the time of this movie but I still consider it to be their best roles ever.
I was always into westerns as a kid, I even did a history report on Billy The Kid and Pat Garret during one of my junior high school years. I could never watch this film enough. What was cool as a ton of my information came from this film which I ended up learning this film had a good bit of true facts used in it.
I love a story about good guys that act bad, Billy The Kid was a murderer and a notorious outlaw but you loved him just as much as Spiderman or Rambo......I think what's so great is that this film is a western / action film but there is so much comedy in it that it keeps you laughing your ass off, BUT they did not overdue it which would have taken away from you actually believing the characters were who they were supposed to be.
Young Guns ended without a sequel in site. Thankfully it did well and one was made which is not too far from being as good as the first. Also some cool trivia that is talked about in the special edition DVD commentary is that Tom Cruise and Randy Travis were both extras in the film during the end shootout sequence.
I thought Charlie Sheen was the worst character in the film and was glad that he got killed quickly..........IM usually not a Lou Diamond Phillips fan but his character of 'Jose' Chavez y Chavez was so strong that it made you have respect for him. Hey where is Chavez???? He must be doing it with his horse......
"Hey Chavez how come them Indians aint shootin at us"
"cause we're in the spirit world a**hole they can't see us"
