Greed is Good

Favorite Movie Quote: "I'm tapped out Marv. American Express' got a hit man lookin' for me."

I have never seen this film up until a few days ago. Surprised?? I am kind of surprised myself. I liked it but that's not a big shocker considering its got Michael Douglas and Martin Sheen in it.

The Good: Michael Douglas has received recognition and is considered an A list actor but he STILL has not received the recognition he deserves. This is probably based on the fact that he is one of the few actors who's father got them into the business that actually deserve to be there. Douglas's performance in Wall Street is flawless, I keep saying it ...that Michael Douglas is born for that type of role.

I have never thought much of Charlie Sheen, I don't dislike him but I don't look for him either, I would MUCH rather see his brother Emilio. However during the hospital scene with him and his father (which ironically his father Martin plays his father in the movie) I have never been so amazed with either actor. A son only knows how it feels when you disappoint your father and realize that you did something wrong, something about the bond with man comes in effect and its a horrible feeling. There is nothing stronger then a father and son bond, and these actors brought their real feelings into the script as its so apparent that a lot of that scene was NOT acting.

There was also some great character actors such as Saul Rubinek who I loved in True Romance, Terence Stamp which also worked with Charlie Sheen in Young Guns, James Spader which I liked in Secretary and John C. McGinley.

The Bad: Daryl Hannah not only looked ridiculously dated and just weird in the film but her acting annoyed me. I cant explain what she did wrong cause the part she played is usually easy for any thin blonde woman but I must say she figured out a way to mess it up. The ending also frustrated me very badly. It did not give me the information that I needed to put closure to the plot and characters. It left you wondering what happened to Charlie Sheen and what happened to Michael Douglas's characters. This is a NO NO.....don't make a film great and then do a half ass job on the ending....hell some text across the screen telling you what happened would have been better then nothing.
