Movie Review by Ron
June 21st, 2007

Impressive. Bordering on spectacular.

'Dragnet' the movie is a parody of 'Dragnet' the television series. It stars Dan Aykroyd as no nonsense detective Joe Friday and Tom Hanks as Pep Streebeck, his hip wise cracking partner. The plot has the two mismatched partners trying to solve a case involving the sleazy publisher of a playboyesque magazine [Dabney Coleman] and a televangelist [Christopher Plummer]. Along the way they run into trouble with the P.A.G.A.N.s [People Against Goodness And Normalcy] who have kidnapped the virgin Connie Swail [Alexandra Paul].

This movie is one of the best remakes of a TV show. It might actually be better than the original show it was based on. Dan Aykroyd was meant for the role of Joe Friday. The back and forth banter between Friday and Streebeck is hilarious most of the time. The action scenes aren't half bad either.

Bottom Line: It might be a little dry for some people, but I found it to be hilarious.
