Movie Review by Jesse
December 14th, 2006

A very important film.

This film is one hell of an eye-opener. I didn't love it, but I did find it very important. Oliver Stone wrote and directed this Best Picture winner which is loosely based on his experiences in the Vietnam war. This film shows the importance of the American soldier and the effect the war has on them personally and emotionally. Stone gives a powerful look at the Vietnam war mainly through the eyes of three main characters. Charlie Sheen gives a performance which is very memorable but doesn't even come close when compared to those of Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe. Berenger was my 2nd favourite Supporting Actor of 1986. My favourite film of 1986 is still Hannah and Her Sisters, but this film is definitely deserving of the title "Best Picture". It is poignant, controversial, sad and eye-opening. The most important film of 1986 and perhaps one of the most important films of the whole decade. I highly recommend it to everyone.
