Shudder

Years after watching this movie, it still sticks in my head. A disturbing story of a father and son relationship and how the father is mixed up in illegal activity. One of the most chilling performances by Walken I've ever seen, he is unrelentant in getting his way regardless of what he needs to do to get it, including physically and mentally destroying his own son.

Penn is also very strong here... well, I suppose I should say PennS. Both acting brothers are in the movie and play off of each other well. The strong resemblance is about the only thing that they share, as their characters have cores which are so opposing to one another. One wants to rebel, one will do anything to be accepted. Sadly, the brother who is more accepted by the father isn't the one who wants to be.

It's dark, it's depressing, it's twisted... it's realistic. And it also has one of the best songs that Madonna ever did.
