Movie Review by Tim
December 18th, 2006

I like to keep this handy for close encounters.

Favorite Movie Quote: "What do you mean THEY cut the power...they're animals man."

My Favorite Movie Quotes for Aliens:

Drake: Hey Hicks. Man, you look just like I feel.

Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No. Have you?

Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over! What the f*ck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?

Aliens takes place decades after the first film "Alien" as Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) has been floating around space for 57 years in hyper sleep. Ripley was the only survivor of the Nostromo well except for her cat Jones. She is saved and then briefed on what has been happening the past 50 years.

Planets have began colonization and terraforming. and the company that Ripley worked for has lost contact with the colony on LV426. The company guarantees Ripley her life back if she will accompany the toughest Marines the universe has to offer to go investigate why they have lost communications with the planet.

The marines are led by Lt. Gorman (William Hope), which brings along Cpl. Dwayne Hicks (Michael Biehn), Pvt. Hudson (Bill Paxton), Sgt. Apone (Al Matthews), Pvt. Vasquez (Jenette Goldstein) and many more bad ass hombres. The company sends a representative slime ball named Carter Burke (Paul Reiser) to watch over the operation. Of course they placed an artificial person in the crew just as "Alien", Bishop played by none other then Lance Henriksen. Ok now that we have gotten the cast out of the way lets get to the fun stuff.

Now the marines are packing state of the art firepower including the M41A pulse rifle, the M56 smartgun, M240 flamethrower, HK VP70 pistol, and of course grenades, sentry guns, and an ithaca shotgun because Cpl. Hicks says "I like to keep this handy for close encounters." The marines reach the planet after taking a warship called the Sulaco to there destination. They reach the deserted planet and start to investigate what has happened. It does not take long before they find the very thing they thought they wouldnt and have one of the greatest science fiction shootouts of all time. All of the marines are killed but Vasquez, Hudson, Gorman, and Hicks which regroup with Ripley and Burke. The rest of the film is a constant effort to stay alive until they can escape the planet. Everything that can possible go wrong does including a nuclear explosion, betrayal among the company, marines being killed and wounded, ammo getting low, and their escape ship being destroyed. What happens to them?.......well you have to watch to find out!

Aliens stands up still today being 20 years old as a classic film. For its time and the small 16 million dollar budget that it was given, James Cameron could not have made a better movie. The cast was fa nominal, the special effects were good, the weapons and other props were just kick ass and the suspense kept you at the edge of your seat.
