Movie Review by Zara
April 7th, 2007

Not like I remembered

I haven't watched this movie since the first time I watched it, back when I was a little kid. This afternoon I watched it again, this time with my own little kid, and I found myself laughing at a lot of it. I couldn't believe that I had these residual feelings that the movie was scary or creepy.

Then I looked down at My Midget, who was entirely wrapped up in the movie, concerned over the alien creature and how he died. She cried when the little alien boy was taken captive and howled in confusion over why people would be so mean.

I know that they weren't intending for this to be a children's movie, but after watching it I actually think that it's a rather effective sci-fi starter movie for kids. It has a strong message, one of understanding, even if I think that's childish and morally idealistic.

Not a great movie but not a bad movie. Something for kids if they're strong enough.
