The Terminator

Favorite Movie Quote: "Pain can be controlled - you just disconnect it."

The first time I saw The Terminator it was after I had seen Terminator 2 Judgement Day. I am a big fan of the second addition to the franchise but when I saw the first one I was just blown away. James Cameron whether you love him or hate him made some of the best action movies of the 1980's. The Terminator was a true masterpiece. The cast of Michael Biehn, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Lance Henriksen is just superb.

The Terminator is about a futuristic killing machine that is sent back in time after machines take over the world in the distant future. There is a rebellion leader named John Conner, who's mother Sarah (Linda Hamilton) becomes the target for termination before John is even conceived. At the same time as the Terminator is sent back in time, another rebellion fighter Kyle Reese (Michael Beihn) is sent back to find Sarah Conner and protect her from the Terminator. Its a very difficult challenge as the Terminator is very advanced and requires special weaponry to destroy that does not yet exist.

The special effects are decent for the time period, and the acting is very acceptable. Look for an early performance from Bill Paxton as a street punk. Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn, and Lance Henriksen later went to work on another great James Cameron flick titled Aliens. This movie has action for the guys and some what of a love story for the ladies.....I mean really how many people that you know would travel through time for love?
