Movie Review by Martin
July 11th, 2009

After recently seeing Sam Raimis latest "Drag me to hell!" i thought it was time to catch up with the Evil dead movies he is so famous for. I had heard all the storys about how over the top and violent this is, and that is whats made me avoid it for years, as i prefer genuinly creepy horror movies to the bloody ones. Although i lived in hope that this could be creepy as well. I was kinda wrong!

Now there are some genuinely scarey moments in this, which is why i have given 1 and a half stars instead of just half a star. These moments are seriously outweighed by the crap! The violence is surprisingly a long time coming, but once it starts, it doesnt stop! It actually starts to get boring!

The plot is so straight forward there is plenty of time for Raimi to attempt to shock us with tree rapes and the like. (Dont think thats a spoiler as its the most famous thing that happens in the movie) But things only shock me in small doses, and after a while i become imune and start looking at my watch wanting this rubbish to hurry up and end.

The movie also has the type of ending i dispise in a horror film of any sort, where you think its all over but "oh no, look, hes still getting watched by something." As for the "legendery" Bruce Campbell, he cant act for sh*t either! Which sinks the film to even lower depths.

I'm guessing this film is so popular because people think its so bad its good. I guess it is memorable if nothing else, and you either get it or you dont. I sure as hell dont! Felt i had to say i thought this was pish as everyone else on here seems to think its great. Thats more shocking than the film itself!

Bravo, Martin!!

Finally someone has given the sort of review that this piece of movie-rubbish deserves.

Yeah. I agree with you about how shocking it is that everyone else here seems to think this crap is great horror. And you're right Bruce Campbell is a turd of an actor.

Glad to see you've put a photo into your profile.
