Movie Review by Tim
July 21st, 2007

I always tell the truth. Even when I lie.

Favorite Movie Quotes for Scarface :

Tony Montana: I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice.

Tony Montana: In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

Tony Montana: You wanna f*ck with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend!

I could keep going this film has a TON of memorable quotes through it. So there typically is 2 types of people......People that think Scarface is way overrated and then people that think its everything that rappers make it out to be, the greatest drug dealer film of all time. I am going to go with the fact that its one of the greatest films of all time but not for the usual reasons.

First off this is a great performance by Al Pacino....probably one of his best. also Michelle Pheiffer and Robert Loggia are wonderful also. This film is about dealing drugs but more importantly is about the rise and fall of a drug lord. As powerful and rich as Tony Montana was he still had his weaknesses's. For me The Godfather trilogy is awful......very outdated and very easy to tell when watching that the sh*t is old. When I watch Scarface you know that its an older movie but the way the script and scenes were written was ahead of its time.

The famous chainsaw in the bathroom scene is probably the most memorable, I remember being a kid and people telling me about that scene before I had a chance to see the movie. It didn't let me down when I finally got to see it. Also I'm not usually into films that run this long but there really is no drag spots in Scarface either.

As you can see from the box office results the film did pretty well in the theatres for the time but did not come close to breaking any box office records. Then Rap and Hip Hop became huge where talking about drugs, guns and money is the coolest thing ever and one film captured all of those issues into one and that is Scarface. Scarface has been brought to a new level of cult stature. It is talked about and referred to almost as much as the original Star Wars trilogy or The Wizard of Oz. Now that is really something.....who would have known that this drama from 1983 would turn into to be one of the biggest films of all time?
