75 Movies Every Man Should See

Favorite Movie Quote: "Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave."

Daryl Hannah, scary and doll-like, before she became scary and doll-like.

There is no disputing the fact that this film was visually stunning. The contrast between the rich and poor, the bright lights and the crumbling buildings, the constant rain and darkness; all made for a beautiful picture.

In addition, the music of Vangelis was more than appropriate for the film. It was a treat to the ear.

But, that said, the story itself was a disappointment. There really just didn't seem to be much there that would qualify this film to be considered a classic.

I watched as a tribute to Harrison Ford. He had that same edge that he had in Raiders of the Lost Ark, released the year before. He had a maturity that was missing in Star Wars. He was totally believable in this role.

But that was it. A minute or two of Joanna Cassidy to titillate, a clownish Darryl Hannah, and a conflicted Rutger Hauer did nothing to make this anything more than a showcase for Ford.

It was an enjoyable experience, but still a disappointment.
