SWORDS CROSS AND MAGIC ABOUNDS

EXCALIBUR is lush, spellbinding, dark, eccentric, sexually aware, visually stunning, thoroughly engrossing, highly enjoyable, etc., etc. - The superlatives one could use to describe this fine flick are virtually endless.

EXCALIBUR offers the viewer a truly wonderful re-telling of the great legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

As I'm sure we all know - This is the enchanting tale of the mythical sword Excalibur, and its inevitable passing from the mysterious wizard Merlin to the competent hands of the future King of England. Arthur pulls the famed sword clean from the stone and at that point his destiny to become King is sealed.

King Arthur soon embarks on an intensely passionate love affair with Lady Guenevere. To Arthur an illegitimate son is born and Merlin's unquenchable designs for supreme power threatens to completely destroy the King's reign.

EXCALIBUR's excellent Soundtrack offers up generous samples from CARL ORFF's 'CARMINA BURANA', including a wicked rendition of 'O' FORTUNA'. RICHARD WAGNER's 'SIEGFRIED'S FUNERAL MARCH' weaves its way magically throughout the movie's musical score.

This excellent Fantasy/Action Flick, with its bold and magnificent scenes of bloody combat and black magic, comes very highly recommended from this movie-reviewer.
