FLASH Ahhhhh....He'll save every one of us

This takes me back to a time before cable and satellite TV had made it to my little island (uk) and where we only had 4 channels and it was rare to see a good movie on the telly. However when a bank holiday came around we could always count on the good old BBC to show either Star Wars, Superman, or Flash Gordon which is one of my favorites I was a Queen fan back then.

This film is based on the 1950's comic strip. Flash Gordon a football star for the NY Jets is traveling back from vacation with Dale Arden when their plane crashes into the laboratory of Russian scientist Dr. Hans Zarkov. Things on earth are looking a little dodgy so and our cunning Russky scientist convinces our hero Flash and heroine Dale Arden to go with him in his rocket. Zarkov sets a course for Mongo where they must stop the its evil ruler Ming the Merciless from destroying the earth.......can Flash triumph over evil......will Dale's hair stay in place......and when will Freddy Mercury settle down with a nice girl, are all thoughts that flicked through my young head when I first watch this movie back in the 80's.

Even though this movie is totally camp I still enjoy watching it with my friend a crate of beer and an extra large pizza......one thing you can't dispute is that Queen did a ripping job on the sound track.

THIS WAS AN ALRIGHT MOVIE. KIND OF CHEESY, AND KIND OF GIPPY.

Man, I loved this movie as a kid, but it definitely does not age well.
