Movie Review by Lisa
July 20th, 2007

Admit it, you danced around to this in leg warmers

Yes...not only did I wear out many copies of this film on VHS I also watched the spin off TV series religiously and spent many hours prancing around the living room in lycra and legwarmers. This is what happens to little girls who are sent to dance classes at the tender age of 2...by the time I was 6 all I wanted to do was dance on cars and be one of the dancers from fame.

To all those who are reading this with a smirk on their faces I give you the good ole 2 fingered salute and inform that this movie won several awards including an Oscar so there.

Fame is the story of a group of talented kids and they're passage through a prestigious NY performing arts school. The film is full of spontaneous, energetic singing and dancing which still to this day makes me smile a little. For me the actual storyline was secondary and just a stepping stone to the next song and dance number, and on watching it recently I found the stories to be very after school special, dealing with the usual pregnancy, homosexuality, and drugs.

No matter how dated this movie may appear compared to it's modern counterparts I'd still take this movie over the likes of "Save the last dance" and some of the newer dance movies.

So do yourself a favor slip back into the 80's for a little while (it wont hurt I promise) and rent fame, I swear you'll be singing before it's over.
