Suspenseful, Scary and Creative
It has taken me a while to actually sit down and watch Alien, but now Im really happy that I did. It has been considered possibly one of the best sc fi films of all time, I dont think that much of it, but I definately loved it. Ridley Scotts directing is absoulutely amazing and done perfectly, the suspense in here is just killer and the film is actually scary in many moments of the movie. Please note though, this review is for the directors cut of the, not the theatrical version. Thought the directors cut is only aabout 10 minutes longer, Im sure it wouldnve affected my review of the theatrical version.
Alien takes place in space. When 4 people awaken in space on their trip back to earth, something attacks them. An alien. Now they must survive the alien and return home alive!
Sigourney Weaver became famous for her epic role as Ripley, and I see why. Her performance is scoped out so well and by the end, your rooting for her to finally kill the alien. She gets some emotional moments which you actually feel her pain in, and that means that someone nailed their role in the film.
The alien in the movie is very different from the green, weird shaped heads we see in just about every other alien film out there. I wish that the AVP films were as good as these, but by the way, the aliens are really creepy and inventive. Theyre blood is actually a kind of acid, a kick ass defense system if you ask me.
The suspense in the film is terrific, and it lasts the whole 2 hours of the movie. There were some moments where your writhing around in your seat because you want to see what happens. Thats amazing how Ridley does it. The film isnt to violent, we just get some minor stufff.
Bottom Line: Classic
