Movie Review by Lisa

Halloween wouldn't be the same with Mikey....

I was a horror movie junkie growing up I watched my first horror movie aged 7 and I was hooked.

Halloween may not be the best horror movie ever made and doesn't stand up to the gore fest of today's horror movies but it still scare the b'jesus outta me. This could've been caused by my best mate growing up who used to hide his Michael Myers mask in various places just to scare the sh*t outta me. Years later in college I watched this movie again whilst experimenting with various hallucinogens (don't try it at home kids) and it scared me half to death, as a result I still to this day can't watch this movie alone at night.

Because of this movie Jamie Lee-Curtis will always be my favorite scream queen, and it started my love affair with Carpenter.

If you are not familiar with the Michael Myers story here's a brief history of my favorite movie killer, with a little help from Wikepidia. Michael Audrey Myers was born October 19th 1957 (his middle name was Audrey...that would be enough to send any buy over the edge) he had 2 sister Laurie (the younger) and Judith (the older). On October 31st 1963 Michael then 6 and Laurie 2, were across the road where a neighbor was looking after them. Michael happen to see his older sister getting all frisky on the couch with her boy friend and then head up stairs, anyhoo little Mikey wait until said boy friend leave and trots over to his house, picking up a nice big kitchen knife as he passes through and stabs the sh*t outta his sister. Michael was institutionalized where Dr. Loomas tried in vain to rehabilitate our lovable little psycho.

The main focus of the film is Michael's desire to find and kill his younger sister Laurie, on Halloween of course you don't monkey with tradition my mum always says.

This to me is one of the classic horror movies for my generation.

I was always more of a Freddie girl. The first Nightmare on Elm Street is what did it for me in terms of freaking me the f*ck out for days after I'd watched it. Michael Meyers just didn't hit the same chord with me. There was something scarier about the prospect of going to sleep and never waking up.

Nightmare on Elm street was one of the first horror movies I ever saw, I just loved Robert Englund as Freddy.

My stepdad was a huge horrror fan, so I got into it because of him...Halloweens theme music always freaked the crap out of me as a kid, and it still does. The theme music is so haunting, I love Halloween..I like Freddy too but Halloween is more creepier as it is more real...cool review!!
