Best of the Dead!

Dawn of the Dead should only be remembered one way.......As the ORIGINAL 1979 version! Don't get me wrong the remake was a good horror film but it did not do the 1979 version any justice. If you are not familiar with the trilogy then know that Dawn of the Dead is a sequel to the cult classic "Night of the Living Dead." Zombie or "Ghoul" flicks have always been my favorite horror genre and this flick will make you like them too.

The cool thing about Dawn of the Dead is that you can really identify with this film, it plays out just as life probably would if an outbreak of "ghouls" ever really occurred. The film follows 4 people that steal a news chopper and go to the town shopping mall to hide out until the world gets back under control. Now with the mall comes a built in gun store, an arcade, bank, food, clothing, tools and an ice skating rink.....is just about the perfect place to barricade yourself from ghouls. The gore and zombies are just great including the famous Machete Zombie scene and helicopter blade scene. Also the plot is decent, the acting is meager........This is probably one of the best "zombie" movies of all time.

Do not judge the remake of Dawn of the Dead to the original they are very different films.....the characters are not the same and the overall atmosphere is different. Yes they both take place in a shopping mall while the "dead" are walking but other then that they do not have a lot in common.
