Dated
What can be said about this movie that people don't already know? One of those movies that is a classic for the people of my generation, I think we look upon it more fondly out of a sense of nostalgia than with a keen eye. It's a decent science fiction movie, but the effects are horribly dated. And when I mean dated, I mean the original ones before Lucas started f*cking with them and making people forget what they really looked like. The acting it over the top, the script is rather silly, but the action scenes are great. And this was when all little girls fell in love with Harrison Ford. Can't forget that.

| I remember the original effects...and of course they weren't very good by today's standards, but the Star Wars trilogy (if I can still can it that now that there are the prequel three) will always be classics. Even if they're only classics to those of us who remember the horrible effects. ;) |

| Yeah, BUT the effects from Star Wars were groundbreaking in the day and really raised the bar for everybody else. Also, with Star Wars the fact of the special effects took on an importance they hadn't had before. After this you simply couldn't have a science fiction movie without great FX. Hollywood's been building on them ever since. Sense of nostalgia vs. keen eye? You hit it dead on, sister. |
