The Best of De Niro and Scorsese
The best Scorsese...let's not dispute it.
De Niro as Travis Bickle is everything an anti-hero should be, misunderstood, even by us the audience, dark and twisted with an odd moral compass.
Jodie Foster is amazing as a young prostitute, Cybull Sheperd represents everything the idealized American woman should be, lovely and shallow.
But this is a De Niro movie, THE De Niro movie and let's not forget it.
This film takes you into the dark, sick heart of New York in the 1970's, it grabs onto you and doesn't let you go until you are crying to escape.
This is a film everyone must see, but it is not an easy task. Make sure you are prepared.
