WHERE THE CARS ARE THE STARS

VRRRRROOM! VRRRRROOM!

EAT MY DUST is, yet, another super-charged, 70's Car-Chase Flick.

RON HOWARD plays Hoover Nielbold, a car-crazy teen, who, in order to impress the hottest babe at school, takes her out for a joy-ride (as it turns out) in a souped-up race car owned by local racer Big Bubba Jones.

You see, as EAT MY DUST shifts into first gear, Hoover actually resorts to stealing the car, since Big Bubba, wisely, refuses to loan it to him.

Hoover's father, Harry, who just happens to be the local county sheriff, quickly finds out about his son's car-thieving antics and he promptly sends his bungling, idiot deputies out to go after this car-stealing punk-of-a-son. As you can well imagine, Hoover's car rip-off does wonders for his father's solid, trustworthy reputation as the town sheriff.

With the sheriff's office soon overflowing with concerned parents and local citizens and his dumber-than-dumb deputies (who are still unable to catch Hoover) - Sheriff Nielbold enlists the help of Big Bubba Jones, himself, along with a few other hard-driving fellow racers to corner and capture the young, reckless Hoover. This attempted apprehension, naturally, culminates into a wilder-than-wild 'car chase' finale through the rural countryside.

Unfortunately, EAT MY DUST is a typical, B-Grade ROGER CORMAN Production, which means that it, sure enough, gets real boring, real fast. Too many corners were cut to bring this project in under budget and, of course, the final product suffers greatly from this. EAT MY DUST's potential for being really good, solid, movie-entertainment is never achieved.

In the entire length of his career, CORMAN never, ever once rose above this B-Grade level of movie production, ever. I don't know what this constipated, tight-fisted bozo was eating for breakfast, but whatever it was, it sure as hell reflected in the cut-rate quality of the films that he produced, and directed.

As some kind of compensation for this flick's low caliber story - EAT MY DUST features a truly awesome collection of spiffy hotrods and muscle-cars for all to admire, along with some high-energy, fast-paced car chase scenes.

VRRRRRROOOOOOOM!
