Tattoos + Pinky amputaion = good ole Japanese fun

I discovered this film by complete accident a few months back during my usual channel surfing ritual. I was instantly taken in as I do have a thing for Japanese culture and Yakuza tattoos, yada, yada, yada.

Anyway although I was excited at the prospect of this Yakuza movie, I wasn't really expecting much as some 70's movies are a little corny. However Robert Mitchum (my new fave actor...I know I'm a little late on this one) did not fail to impress, and Sydney Pollack did a great job, the whole ambience of the film was great (they even show kendo in this movie).

Robert Mitchum is a PI who returns to Japan for the first time since the WW2 to help find his friends daughter who has been kidnapped by the Yakuza. He ends up hooking back up with an old flame and enlisting the help of her brother Ken to help tackle the mighty Yakuza......People are dis-honored, sword fights ensue, pinkies are lost and there are some pretty wicked tattoos in this flick.

Ok go forth and rent this movie, you'll like it, if you don't I will cut my pinky off for you ...Yakuza style.
