A Fistful of Dollars (1964)

My Mistake. Four coffins...
It is interesting to go back and see how things began. Sergio Leone's remake of Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo(1961) into a western still has all the Samurai flavor. The idea of a nameless man traveling from town to town righting wrongs was alien to those brought up on Randolph Scott and John Wayne.
Leone's use of bright light was also something that I thoroughly enjoyed in this film. Why not have all the grittiness on display for all to see? I get tired of low light flicks.
It may not be the best of the Leone/Eastwood features, but it was the one that started it all and transformed Rowdy Yates into a star.
I would be remiss not to mention the brilliant score of Ennio Morricone. Magnificent!

| Great film but The Outlaw Josey Wales is still my favorite Clint Eastwood western. |
