The White Warrior (1961)

HE MAY BE 'WHITE', BUT CAN HE FIGHT?
As much as I may be an ardent admirer of Actor/Bodybuilder STEVE REEVES, with his dazzling, white 'Pepsodent' smile, THE WHITE WARRIOR was a truly dull and tiresome 'bore-of-a-movie' right from the very start. And, believe me, there was nothing that REEVES could've done to have saved this flick from its sorry state, either.
Set in the year 1850 - The power-hungry Czar is greedily looking to expand the mighty frontiers of the Russian Empire, so his well-armed forces have been sent out to conquer the nearby countries with a blood-thirsty savagery.
When the Czar's Cossacks begin to invade the Caucaus Region, a young, idealistic warrior decides to take a brave stand and fight them off. This warrior gathers around him the fighting men of his region and organizes them into a fierce, battling army of true soldiers in hopes of driving off the ruthless Invaders from Russia.
This tale of war was loosely based upon a story written by the famous author, LEO TOLSTOY. Unfortunately, the political intrigue in THE WHITE WARRIOR was super-dull and the film was poorly dubbed into English.
As a special trivia-note - Cult 'Horror-Movie' Director MARIO BAVA served as Director of Photography for THE WHITE WARRIOR.
