THE HUNK THAT SHRUNK
Favorite Movie Quote: "I, Robert Scott Carey, the smallest of the small, mean something, too!"
Between The World Of Men And Make-Believe.
Meet Robert Scott Carey. Just a regular stiff etching out a life of moderate comfort, working in the business of Advertising.
Robert Scott Carey has a size, a shape, and a definite way of thinking. But that all suddenly changes. One bright, sunny day while out upon the deep, blue sea, vacationing on his brother's yacht he, alone, is engulfed by a strange cloud of radioactive (?) mist that's swiftly moving across the water's surface. Since that day Robert Scott Carey has been slowly, steadily shrinking in size. As can be well imagined, nothing has been the same for our hero since then.
It seemed that the smaller Scott Carey got in size, the more he gained intellectually through the profoundness of his newly acquired insights. At first he recorded his altered perceptions into a journal, but soon abandoned this on account of his growing/shrinking predicament. His startling new experiences and revelations were now meant for him, and him alone.
In a physical sense, Robert Scott Carey's journey would finally come to an end across the expanse of a basement floor wasteland. Carey was a virtual pioneer exploring new frontier not yet known to any other man.
Carey eventually shrinks away into nothingness. His knowledge climaxes at the infinite. His wisdom soars like a rocket across the universe. Robert Scott Carey becomes everything and nothing, all in the matter of a mere micro-second.
Personally, I think that GRANT WILLIAMS deserved (at least) an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Robert Scott Carey. But, then again, that's me believing in giving the 'little' guy a fair break.
Special Note : Screenplay/Story written by RICHARD MATHESON, author of I AM LEGEND.
