Movie Review by Zara
September 22nd, 2010

A little secret about me that I don't often share is that I actually like Katherine Heigl. But please allow me to explain so that I don't lose all of my precious fangirl cred.

You see, I think Heigl is fun to look at. That's pretty straight-forward, right? I liked her even better when she was carrying slightly more meat on her, like in the "Roswell" series, but I'll take her how she looks lately. I also think she has a good screen presence. She can turn on the bright and bubbly charm but also has the ability to tap some ugliness in her confused glances. She's no Botox princess, her face emotes and it emotes well. She can deliver a line and pick one up from a sloppy co-star.

The thing that I don't like about Heigl is her personal persona. I hate the way that media conducts itself nowadays, even if I'm a part of it by mentioning her personal life in a movie review. It's hard to watch or consider enjoying a Heigl movie for fear that people are going to talk about her being a nasty ungrateful b*tch in real life. DUH! That's why movies aren't real life!

The same goes for Ashton Kutcher. While I could completely care less about his marriage to Demi Moore or anything else that he stands for there, I find him to be amusing most of the time. He's definitely not the Adonis that he's portrayed as, as I find him ugly, but hey... he's funny enough.

That all said, this is a bad movie. It has only a couple of brief moments where you might slightly half-chuckle but otherwise it's poorly written, extremely poorly constructed and directed and it has one of the worst storylines that I've seen in a long time. The two leads do try their best to be charming, but how charming can you be with a turd? Especially when the rest of the world already thinks you're a couple of floaters to begin with?
