Far superior in every way to the same concept that the current hit movie KICK-ASS puts out there about the idea of a regular guy becoming a "superhero" and defending the helpless, the movie is full of comedy, emotional connection and drama. Woody Harrelson has been just blowing people away recently with his movie roles and this one is no exception.

A young boy who knows little about the world is abandoned by his mother because she has a drug habit. Going on to live with his grandfather, he becomes immersed in the storyline of comic books and believes with all of his heart that he can make the world a better place by becoming the superhero Defendor. Sure, plenty of pot-shots are made at his attempts to be great in the face of danger, but when couples with his personal delusions, this is not some kid trying to get the girl but rather a man who truly believes that any man can be heroic.

There is personal tragedy as he befriends a runaway turned street hooker and crack addict (played with detached perfection by Kat Dennings) and while he encounters people trying to stop him from being the Defendor at every turn, he really is a good man who has done good things, so his life is also filled with people in a poor city looking for someone, anyone, who isn't too pu**y to stand up for everyone else. He is loved and adored by those who meet him because despite being mentally unstable, he is honest and pure, a rarity in a jaded world.

Definitely a sleeper keeper. Great film.
