Movie Review by Zara
November 24th, 2009

While I was actually in a lot of pain when I went to see this movie, hindering me from giving it my full attention, I'll say that for the most part I found this movie entertaining enough. I like movies with supernatural powered creatures, with the exception of twinkling vampires, I suppose.

What I liked best about this movie is that other than Salma Hayek, most of the actors cast in it were on the range from being a well-known character actor to a rather unknown. It helped to not have a preconceived notion about these characters from a series of books that I have not read. I've read a few of the more current literature aimed at my kid's demographic and I end up getting a picture in my head of what the characters should look like, which ultimately hurts my opinion of the film. This was not the case here.

I would actually like to watch this movie again when it comes out on DVD, as it had the feel of a movie which would get better with a second viewing. Since it wildly underperformed at the box office, subsequent sequels to go along with the book series seem to not be in its future. So this might be the only one that we have to go on. I think I felt the same way about THE SEEKER movie that came out a short time ago.
