I don't even know why i bothered with this one. This sequal to an already un-neccecery remake had 1 star before i had even seen it. Although it has avoided getting half a star, which is in fact, the lowest rating that can be dished out.
What was promising was (unlike in the first part) this film has pretty much open ground for going in any direction it wants, after everythings been set up in the first part, and it does go in a different direction. Despite leading me into believing the whole thing was going to be set in a hospital like the origanals sequal in 1981, that bit is just a little homage to that 80's movie, and soon this one is going in a direction all of its own. There is even some decent scares and Michael Myers look has been altered a bit for the better in my opinion. Theres a splashing of gags too just incase the horror isn't working for ye, including a brilliant appearence from weird Al Yankovic who gets Michael Myers mixed up with Mike Myers of Austin Powers fame. Brilliant. So why is the film still so awful?
Well, i did write, there are only SOME scares, and just A FEW laughs, these don't make a great movie. Overall, the film is unworthy of attention. The violence, although not overwelming, still has some moments that are to much. Theres been pointless nudity and sexual references added just to make the film that bit more adult just like in director Rob Zombies first "Halloween." These add nothing, theres the traditionally bad ending that every horror movie seems to have these days and Zombie also overdoes it with stupid dream sequences and crazy visions, that both Myers and Strode can both see for some reason. In trying to hard to be different the film steps to far away from what would actually work in improving a "Halloween" movie. That being some tension or suspence, oh, and turning Dr. Loomis from the hero into a money hungrey book author isn't one of the ways to improve things either.
OK i did enjoy it a tiny tiny little bit, buts thats only because i expected nothing from it. I would of still prefered to have seen something different or origanal, or genuily scarey. I'll have forgotten all about this by tommorow. Plus most people won't remember it at all at the screening i went to because they walked out. This movie defently holds the award for the most people i've seen leave during a showing. That must make it worthy of 1 star if nothing else.
