Movie Review by Zara
October 4th, 2009

Perhaps I'm biased, because this movie really touched me in portions where it felt parallel to my relationship right now but I really liked this movie.

It's weird and strange and sad and touching and maybe not the best movie for everyone, but the struggles and the trials that these two people, in love with one another and trying to figure out where they fit best in the world really got into my heart. Not everyone is perfect in any way and the film touches on a lot of different people in varying different lifestyles, but I have to say that it was honest and earnest it its approach to giving all of them some light.

I don't normally like John Krasinski. I've always seen in him roles and could only best describe his personality in most as something akin to a wet washcloth. But I have to say that I gained some respect for him in this film. It fit him well and even though he might have seemed a weird match for the ethereal beauty of Maya Rudolph, the two of them play off of one another so well that it clicks and the soppiness that he normally exudes didn't come out here. He was a realistic man with quiet hopes who just wants to love the woman in his life and the baby that they're making together.

Easily one of the best movies of the year.
