Great Cast but bad job..
Favorite Movie Quote: "My name's Dave Robicheaux. I'm an alcoholic. Sometimes I'm tempted to have a drink. But I never do."
I was looking around Blockbuster Videos online site and saw this film in the "most downloaded" section. Of course I had not heard of it being that it was a straight to video film but I started looking at the cast and it looked pretty awesome. I like Tommy Lee Jones (especially as a law enforcement figure,) I like John Goodman, Mary Steenburgen is Doc Brown's wife for god sake and it had Tom Sizemore?????? I was sold.
The problem is that Blockbuster has wrong information posted and Tom Sizemore is not in the movie at all which was the main thing that sold me on it being that he hasn't done a movie in years with an A list actor. So still maybe it would be ok being that the rest of the cast was strong. WRONG...
John Goodman...man I hate that he did this movie. I really like Goodman I thought he was just as important as Roseanne on the television show...I mean the guy is funny and has that character acting ability to always play that funny but powerful character. Sadly though his wannabe New Orleans accent just is so bad that you can hardly stand to watch his scenes.
However for you Roseanne fanatics (like myself) a very cool point of trivia interest is that not only is John Goodman in this film but so is Ned Beatty which played Dan's father on Roseanne.
The story is really confusing...Tommy Lee Jones is a sheriff investigating the murder of a hooker. While he is investigating he is a recovering alcoholic who at night time sometimes gets visited by this dead Civil War soldier that gives him advice???? Yep I know it sounds weird...
At the same time there is a movie being filmed about the Civil War and some big movie star is in town which keeps having run-ins with Jones and he is a drunk too.
This is supposed to be based on a book which I have not read but the film is pretty badly done. I don't know if I would recommend this even as a one viewer it really just makes no sense and when the credits role you don't really have any satisfaction of what you just sat through.

So, do you think that, besides the Tom Sizemore mis-information about this flick, Blockbuster also gave the same sort of information when they said that this flick was from the 'most downloaded' section, just to generate some interest in this thing and to get people to check it out, even though it was really crap?
Don't you hate wasting your time watching junk like this?
This flick's kind of got an interesting title, whatever it's supposed to mean. |

So Blockbuster was not wrong they just never updated their page.
I think that it could go either way Blockbuster may get a cut or fee for pushing certain films from the studios. Maybe that got a good rate on buying a bunch of the DVDs of Electric Mist if they would place it in their "most downloaded" section. The title is way more attractive then the actual film.
