Favorite Movie Quote: "Listen to me. He's a young lad. He's had a f*cking bad week. So we bring him in wi' us to show him a bloody good time and you've just friggin back handed him roun' head. I'M DISAPPOINTED MATE!"

I really like this Shane Meadows chap, I find his films full of English nostalgia that makes me a lil home sick.

"This is England" is set in the 80's during the Thatcher year when the country was in a real state and the economy was fuct (kinda like it is today). Young Shaun (our lead) is dealing with the death of his dad who died in the Falklands war, when accosted by a bully he finds himself adopted into a group of young skin heads lead by Woody who take Shaun under his wing. Now it is blatantly apparent with one member of the gang being a black Jamaican (who goes by the name "Milky"), that this group aren't your stereotypical racist skins...that is until their old leader Combo shows up on the fresh from a stint in Jail.

The charismatic Combo spouts out his racist diatribe under the guise of patriotism which splits the group into two leaving young Shaun to the tutelage of Combo, who grooms him into a vicious little thug, and teaches him to take out his anger over his fathers death on the immigrant who have invaded our land.

I love that Meadow shows that not all skins where racists and sometimes it was just about the image and the music. Racial tension is still high in UK even more so with the economy at an all time low, unemployment through the roof, and the English borders opened up for foreign workers to come and take jobs for less money.

Stephen Graham was awesome as usual (he grew up down the road from my Nan, who proudly displays her autographed copy of "snatch") yeh can't go wrong with a Kirkby lad.

This is definitely one to watch.
