Quiet and calm drama, just as real life
*Spoiler alert!* I think this movie better to be watched without reading reviews =)
This was an unusual movie. I guess you watched a trailer and have an idea what is it about.
It is about a girl who goes to Alaska (by car, across entire USA), to start a new life. We are not given any details why and how she decided to go there. We are just shown a couple of days of her journey.
Is it a drama? Yes. But people who realistically look at life this movie will leave confused and with bunch of questions. Only after you accept original premise and statement of the problem, everything becomes pretty logical and understandable.
Lessons? Well, it is good to help homeless folks occasionally, often they are normal people just like us, only strangled by recent events in life. Another obvious thing — money rules this world, therefore it is pretty difficult to survive in modern times without it. Especially if you are used to benefits of civilization. Last but not least — never give up in front of difficulties.
I liked this movie more than recently viewed "The Class". I would not call "Wendy and Lucy" a masterpiece of all times, but it is a decent and thoughtful story. The spirit of a relentless character fighting the circumstances reminded me of novels by Stephen King. Of course, this movie is not a thriller but a quiet and slowly paced drama. Just like our whole life.
