Harsh Reality

Favorite Movie Quote: "It doesn't matter what I think. It doesn't matter what I feel. The dead are still dead."

Can we every truly blame someone who is ignorant of how blatantly they are being manipulated?

The Reader forces us to question how we place blame for those who worked within the Nazi regime, but it also asks us to feel empathy for someone who has been forgotten and used within that world. Kate Winslet plays Hanna, a ticket taker who enters into an affair with a teenage boy. Their affair is full of passion but it is mainly a lesson for each character. Michael learns about sexuality and maturity while Hanna learns about the world through the books he brings her.

It is a lovely and heart-wrenching story during which you are constantly trying to decide who to root for. The truth is, in a story like this there is no hero, there are no easy answers. That is what makes it so dynamic and interesting.

Welcome back, Jessica!

Haven't seen you on this site for quite some time.

I hope in your absence that you've seen lots of flicks and now you're back to write a bunch of reviews for us to read.
