Movie Review by Martin August 17th, 2009

"Slumdog Millionare" is a good movie i guess. One of those films which was staggeringly successful because its one of those rags to riches tales that everyone loves.
Everyone probably knows what this is about as it seemed to be at the cinema for ages, but for some reason i missed it. A seriously poor Indian lad gets the chance of a lifetime by landing himself a seat on "Who wants to be a millionare" and in traditional movie style, wins the thing. (Don't think thats a spoiler seeing as the clue is kind of in the title)
The Film itself is like a poor thing that came out of nowhere only to be hugely accepted and win buckets loads of awards. Fair play to it, but its no exactly one of the best movies i've ever seen. The way in which all the questions that come up when the lead characters on "Millionare" always seem to reflect something in his hard life seems a bit of a stretch to me. Espechally the very predictable and disapointing last question that wins him his fortune. The totally random "Bollywood" ending seems intirely inapproriate to the story thats just been told as well.
Also, if you have to phone a friend on "Millionare" i'm sure the friend you choose has to know your going to call up with this very important question, i mean, i've never seen the contestant phone up their friend on the real show and hes in the pub and ca'nt hear them or something. Jees!
Out of all the awards the film won it should of won an award for "most child actors playing the same character in a movie" as the film covers the whole life of the lead character and his friends, and they are played by different kids in just about every scene. The film done well winning the genuine awards it did though!
