Movie Review by Chris November 10th, 2008

'Feast II Sloppy Seconds' shows a great example of what happens when a great, low budget director (John Gulager) gets into the higher budget movies. With his sequel to Feast, made back in 2005, he creates an almost perfect follow up, but now that he finally has more of a budget to work with and has money to do things he wants, it seems that this is what ruins some parts of the film. Feast was low budget mayhem, and it could be told by almost everything Gulager did in the movie. 'Feast II' adds more effects, effects which arent reasonably great and tries to be scarier as it's more serious then the first movie. It is a great time though, without a doubt. Its gory and stupid, which fits together just right.
The chills continue in this gruesome sequel to director John Gulager's 2005 horror extravaganza as the survivors of the besieged tavern flee to the nearest town. But the vicious creatures track the blood trail, and the motley group of barflies must join forces with the locals to end the carnage once and for all.
The thing which made the first Feast funny was the characters, who were dumb and unforgettable. The opening of the movies give us a kind of introduction of each one. Stupid stuff they did or even why their in the area, a lot of pointless stuff. In the first film we had a ravage and insane biker chick, a druggie and a few more completely moronic characters. There is really no difference when it comes to this sequel, even though the same characters arent here, theyre still completely goofy. We get more biker chicks, who end up actually being friends to the girl who died in the first movie. The leader (Diane Goldner) always acts like she has a stick shoved up her ass. Shes c*cky and mean, not my kind of girl. She knows how to shoot a fun and loves to kill, especially for other members of her gang.
Clu Gulager is I believe to be John's father, who makes a re-appearence as the bartender from the first movie. He survived and was hiding under a car outside of the bar, then Biker Queen finds him and mis treats him a little bit. I liked Clu in the first movie and I enjoyed him even more in the sequel. He is funny and mean, but the funnyness is just there. I guess he's not really trying to be funny but it just comes out as humorous. We have two midgets also, brothers as a matter of fact. We have Lighting and his brother Slasher. Lightning is supposedly a famous midget wrestler, he's mexican so theres kind of a connection between this and Nacho Libre. Carl Anthony Payne III is his brother Slasher. They have to make decisions which cause conflict between the two. Such as tossing theyre dying grandmom off of the building as a test.
Feast was an insane movie, and boy was it a gory movie. Most of the gore in the unrated DVD was shown with an uncontrollable hand held camera and usually its hard to see, but it was sure there. With 'Feast II' most of the gore is actually computer generated. That's kinda depressing because they did such a good job with it in the first movie and that's how they honor it in the sequel. Well, the creatures tear up midgets and are constantly biting off limbs and chunks off of our poor survivors. The scene where a monster eats the midget is amazing and it's the best gore gag of the film. The monsters also continue to look great, theyre some of the craziest yet the funniest creatures I have seen in a movie in a long time. The camera is less shaky and feels more professional, which isnt a big problem but it also is unlike the original movie.
'Feast II' is no better then the first movie, which I enjoyed a lot. I think if it kept the same low budget approach as the first movie it couldve been a little better. Its an extremely entertaining film though, for me at least.
