Marvelous
Favorite Movie Quote: "'why are you after me?""
We all know by now that no matter what movie meryl streep does she is going to be fantastic in it, and that is the case here in this movie; where she plays a superior nun and she does so in convincing fashion. My second piano teacher and other people I know who have had experiences with nuns growing up, all tell me nothing but horror stories, after seeing this movie I believe them.
We all know what the movie is about, sure it is based on a play written by the writer and director John Patrick Shanley and at times it does look and feel as though you are watching a play but the movie is great.
The talented viola davis may have a supporting role here but the role is intense and vital to the story and she holds her own against meryl streep, she deserves her best supporting oscar, I hope she gets it. Amy Adams is young but she brings a fresh attitude and feel to the character and to the movie and she does well in her role as a young nun who is a teacher. There have not been many movies that I have seen Philip Seymour Hoffman in where I did not like his performance, and that streak continues here. He looks like a priest, he looks intense as a priest and he pulls it off in incredible fashion, he is awesome and he is one of our greatest actors, I also loved him in a movie that not many people saw, 'Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.'
The only drawback to the movie is the title it was used several times in the movie, and once you figure out what is going to happen then the movie ends because there is no other place for the movie to go.
Go see it before the oscars, it is great and another movie that is intelligent and intellectual, we don't get too many of these kinds of movies nowadays.
