Good, but I expected more
I liked the movie, but overcooked my expectations about it so it did not match them exactly. I imagined it to be more dramatic from the trailer. The drama is there, of course. The ending was a little bit disappointing. Meryl Streep acted "iron principal" too good for me to believe in the suggested ending. This felt a little bit artificial. I wonder if it is the same in the book...
Actors were great. I am not a big fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman but he deserves a praise for excellent job. Meryl Streep rocks, of course (I am a big fan of her and she was the primary reason why I watched "Doubt"). Amy Adams surprised too, very impressive and real character. I almost fell in love with her. =)
Main idea of the movie is pretty simple: even if we do something completely sure that we are right, we can never be sure enough and will have doubts in the end. Does that mean we should always question things and act only when 100% sure? I do not think so. Should we regret about something if we have doubts later? I would question that too. These are probably wrong conclusions but that's all I came up with. =)
Overall, I would not say this movie presents a lot of drama. Especially comparing to "Revolutionary Road". It even has several excellent funny scenes, sometimes not even jokes but just comic contrasts and speechless sights.
"Doubt" is definitely worth watching. I would like to watch it again in the future too.
