A GEM!

Favorite Movie Quote: "I am happy with my life"

I finally saw this wonderful gem of a movie yesterday, 2.11.09, what a gem and a find in these troubled times of ours!
Every actor and actress has a breakaway movie and for Sally Hawkins this is her breakaway movie, what a joy and a gem, this movie rocked, it was very enjoyable and her presence on the screen is like watching a rainbow.
The story in a nutshell: unlike the movie Amelie where she wants to make everyone happy by doing little things for them, Poppy is happy in her life and she is always smiling that infectious smile of hers and that wonderful giggle; along the way you meet her two sisters who are like night and day, the older one who is expecting, married and living in the suburbs and a bit bossy, the middle one is intense and unhappy and rarely smiles; then there is the sad intense driver training teacher, I won't give it away you have to see it for yourself.
This movie has a great supporting cast, Mike Leigh has done it again. If you ever see this gem playing in your neighborhood, and you have about 1hr. 51min. to kill, please stop what you're doing and go and meet Poppy, she is a happy go lucky lady. Enjoy!!!

Yes, great film, and I cannot understand how Sally Hawkins was overlooked at the Oscars for Best Actress.

Here here to that Jarrod, I wholeheartedly agree with you my friend, but as you know winning an oscar can be a curse, ask Louise Fletcher.
