Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie
March 21st, 2009

Better Than The Book

I teach secondary English, so yes I felt is was my duty to read all four of these books. They were a satisfying enough romance-vampire concoction, but in no way compared to J.K. Rowling's masterpieces. I wasn't expecting very much from the film given how weak the source material was.

To be honest, I think the film is far superior to the book, but that is not saying much. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson do their best to make their characters exciting and interesting even though it is a very difficult task.

Catherine Hardwicke does a very good job at making it an attractive looking film and moves the plot along as quickly as she can without missing anything too critical.

So-so, but better than the book.

I just watched it with my 10 year old niece... of course she loved it, and swooned at the pretty boys. I on the other hand was slightly erked by the fact that these so called vampires did not burn up in sunlight the just simply went sparkly.... it was no Lost Boys thats for sure.
