Loving Mark Wahlberg...

Favorite Movie Quote: "It makes you kill yourself. Just when you thought there couldn't be any more evil that can be invented."

I put this movie off forever because everyone hated on it so much. I am still a little shocked that so many people did not like this film...I really enjoyed it.

M. Night Shyamalan is one of those almost cult icons that audiences command flawless films and expect nothing but the best from. I think that people are being way to judgmental on his work because they are expecting every film to be the next The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable.

The Happening had a pretty silly plot...I mean plants attacking humans by releasing chemicals into the air that make them start to kill themselves...yeah I can see where people may have been a little disappointed with that but the film was still very successful as a thriller. It kept me interested throughout the entire picture and I loved the different very intense ways that they came up with for the mass suicides. I found myself looking forward to seeing how the next group of people would kill themselves.

Now there is a lot of plot holes and just character stupidities in the film which made me a little angry. I guess the main one is that this chemical is apparently airborne and when Julian (John Leguizamo) dies right before he is infected he notices that there is a hole in the Jeep's top which is letting the chemical in. He earlier told the driver to close the vents...so if you can keep this virus out of your system by closing vents, closing doors or windows...etc...then why wouldn't these people cover their faces with a shirt or something to be walking around in fields or anywhere outside?
