Movie Review by Tim

Speeding to a theatre near you.

Favorite Movie Quote: "Move it, Speed! It's getting ugly out there!"

Screeners....sometimes you open up that envelope and see tickets you are excited about and sometimes you don't! I don't normally get excited about kids movies because they only send two tickets and I have two kids which means that I have to choose ONE kid to take with me....and that's always tough. This time it was my little girl who turns 10 on Friday, call it an early birthday present if you will. So this review is a collaboration of both my daughter and I.

For a PG film it does feature some adult language. We were surprised at the amount of "hells" and "damns" there was. The film is definitely catered towards boys more then girls (which was lovely since I took my girl.) The humor was based around kids acting like adults.

The funniest character was Spritle which is Speed's younger brother. He made us laugh every scene he was in. The colors that were used in the film were very vivid and futuristic looking which made the viewing very enjoyable.

My only complaint is that the film was rather long for a Speed Racer / Kids movie.....I mean this should have been an hour and a half tops...but it stopped at about the 2 hour and 10 minute mark with about 20 mins of previews.

Emile Hirsch, Susan Surandon, John Goodman and Christina Ricci were all wonderful...Emili Hirsch should stick with these kid movies were its ok to be a pu**y unlike his dreadful performance in Alpha Dog trying to be a hard ass drug dealer.

Take the kids, they will like it and you wont feel 2 hours of screeching nails against chalkboards its enjoyable for all ages.

I wish that I could say that I had any interest in watching this film... Actors I don't really like, 100% CG environs, a cartoon that I always thought was stupid growing up... Is there anything at all that would make me want to go see this thing?

I hear it's not tracking well. I love it when movies that I want to tank tank.

I dont know it doesnt have much competition and for some reason kid movies rarely tank cause parents are just dying for ANYTHING to give them a two hour break.

That is my theory on why Iron Man is doing so much better then expected, it has NO competition in the theatres right now....not saying that its not a good movie but if it opened the same weekend as Indiana Jones 4 I doubt it would be grossing $20 million dollars more then projected.

Touche. Still, after seeing how good Iron Man was, I am hoping for a powerful final box office, and while I am sure that Indiana Jones is going to open huge, I'm VERY nervous that it's going to suck; the only thing that I've seen in the trailer that makes me want to go see it is that Karen Allen is back. These guys did team up to make Temple of Doom, remember, easily Spielberg's worst film ever.

I have to agree about Karen Allen, that was a good move. I also think they were smart enough to realize that Indiana Jones isnt 40 anymore.....and they wrote some "old age" character traits into the script so that the audience didnt feel as if they were being fooled.

I dont think that Temple Of Doom was THAT bad...it was the worst of the series but I still watch it whenever its on. I remember the monkey brains and pregnant snake scene to this day and when I was a kid that sh*t freaked me out. Also isnt that like Data's only other movie that he was memorable in??

I'm boycotting this movie. I will not take my kid to see it, will not fund it with my hard earned dollars, nada. It's fast food crap and kids don't need their brains filled with more junk.

I would just recommend that people spend the money to see IRON MAN instead. There was no need for a Speed Racer movie, especially not a CGI bastardized version of a crappily made cartoon.
